  1. BLA’AN LEADERS’ MANIFESTED AGAINST MINING OPERATIONS IN

    BONGMAL TERRITORY

Eleven Bla’an leaders in Bongmal Territory, Brgy. Kimlawie, Municipality of Kiblawan, province of Davao del Sur met on 20 May 2017 at tribal Council Hall, SitioGumikatAyem, Bongmal Territory, Brgy. Kimlawie, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, to firm up their opposition to any “mining activities in Bongmal, especially by the Sagittarius Mining, Inc., or SMI; and to have their decision sent to the office of the President as well as to all agencies concerned government and non-government.”

 Note: the manifest was written in Bla’an.  Translation in Tagalog.

  1. Angamingpinakamabigat ng problema ayangmulingpagpasok ng SMI ditosaaminglugar.
  2. Sa pagpasok ng SMI saaminglugar, nasiraangamingbuhay, kultura at tradisyon. Maramisaamingmgakasamahanangnamatay at maramingpamilyaangnasiradahilsahindipagkakaunawaan at pagpaborsa mina.  Angamingmgakababayangtumutolsa mina ay namatay, angibanamanaykinasuhan.  Angmgakaganapangito aynagdulot ng takotsaamingkumunidad.
  3. Sa kanilangpagpasok, nagdulotito ng takotsamgahayopsakagubatankagaya ng unggoy, baboyramo, manok-ihalas, at iba pang mgahayopsakagubatandulot ng malalakingmakinarya.
  4. Sa kanilangpagpasok, angamingtubig at pinagkukunan ng isda ay pinangangambahangmasiradahilsakemikalnakanilangginagamit.
  5. Sa kanilangpagpasok, babayaran at palalayasin kami saamingmgalupain.
  6. Dahildito, ayaw naming papasokangkompanya ng minahang SMI ditosa Bongmal.
  7. Ayaw naming ibenta at sirain ng SMI angamingmgalupain.
  8. Ayaw naming titirasilasaaminglugar. Ito lamanganglugar ng amingmganinuno at itoanglugar kung saan kami manganganaksahinaharap.
  9. Ayaw naming mawalaangamingkumunidad, katubiogan, bukirin, kakahuyan, at mgahayopsakagubatandahildiyanangamingbuhay.
  10. Gusto naming na kung may papasoksaaminglugar, hihingisila ng nararapatnapahintulotsamgatao at hindilangsaaminbilangmga leader, at respituhinnilaangamingmgaAlmoos (Bla’a priests/priestess).
  11. Angmganasabi ay iilanlamangsaamingmgakinakakatakutan at lubos ma pinangangambahan kung kaya’tsaamingpagpupulongpulongbilangmgapinuno ng amingkaniya-kaniyangSitio, satulongnaaminghinihingisa Social Action Center- Diocese of Marbel na kami ay gabayannamaunawaanangmgabagay-bagayhindiabot ng amingkakayahan, ay nagkaisananananawagan at ipina-aabotsamgakinauukulan, simulasaTanggapan ng Presidente ng Republika ng Pilipinas, at samgakasapingtanggapan,pamahalaan at mgaorganisasyon, nabinigyan ng alituntunin para mapangalagaanangyamangkalikasan, na kami ay tutolsapagpanumbalik ng operasyon ng pagmiminasaamingkinasasakupan. Ito ay amingbuongloob at malayanginihahayaglabassaanumangpananakot o katumbas ng anumangkapalitgantimpala.

  1. NDMU’S RESEARCH ON DIOCESAN PRIESTS, 2017

Respondents were members of Parish Pastoral Councils.  Most liked (75% of respondents) qualities:

  • Good attitude that make the people closer to God: kind, cheerful, humble, lovable, trustworthy, approachable, considerate, understanding, respectful.
  • Straight forward in implementing rules, programs and financial housekeeping of the parish.
  • Fair in treating their parishioners, regardless of their issues and status in life.
  • Concerned with the welfare of the poor parishioners and GKK.
  • Well prepared in sharing God’s word during mass, confession, anointing of the sick and recollection.
  • Supportive of the activities of the PPC and ministries.
  • Prayerful and committed to their priestly vocation.

Praise God! Congratulations to our priests.  Thank you, Dr. Andy Magallanes and team of researchers.
