Bishop Dinualdo Gutierrez ordained priest Rev. Archie G. Bago, CP, 8 June 2017, Holy Cross Parish Church, Calumpang, General Santos City.  Forty priests concelebrated.

Bishop’s homily

God called Samuel.  Samuel answered “Speak, Yahweh, Your servant is listening” (1 Samuel 3: 1-10).  Priests are servants of the Lord.

Priests are also servants of the people for Christ’s sake; they preach Jesus as the Lord, not themselves (2 Cor. 4: 1-6).

Priests are also shepherds.  They feed the lambs and sheep and look after them as expression of their love for Christ and Christ’s flock (John 21: 15-19).

Priests are servants and shepherds.  They are also stewards.  Stewards of God’s mysteries; stewards of parish/congregation’s assets.

We have three shepherding programs in Marbel: (1) pastoral accompaniment of Christian families from womb to tomb and beyond; (2) pastoral accompaniment of illegal drugs users and pushers (PAID-UP); (3) pastoral accompaniment of children in need (PAC-IN) – also known as “SUKARAP” (Sugal, Kawat, Rape, Patay).

We must be zealous shepherds, joyful servants and faithful stewards.

Fr. Archie was born on 26 October 1980 at Lagao; but grew up in Fatima.  The 5th among 6 siblings.

Father, Antonio T. Bago is a native Bla’an from Maasim, Sarangani.  Mother, Erlinda Ortiz Guanzon (deceased) is a native of Lagao, GSC; her origin is from Iloilo.

He entered the Seminary at the age of 27.  High School – Fatima.  Graduated from NDMU in 2010.  Graduated from Loyola School of Theology on 10 May 2017 with degrees of Bachelor of Sacred Theology and M.A. Pastoral Ministry.
