COMMUNICATIONS from the Bishop

No. 916          Diocese of Marbel, Philippines                   18 February 2017

DATE AND VENUE: 14 February 2017.  Immaculate Conception Parish, Norala, South Cotabato

PRESENT: 44 priests and bishop

SHARERS: Dr. Crisanto “Choi” and Domnina “Mimi” Torrijos, Couple-leader, MEWS, Diocese of Marbel.

Their love story.  Married after four years of going steady.  He works as a physician in General Santos City.  She: originally worked as a flight stewardess.  Their jobs keep them apart.  But made up when together.  Raised three boys: 2 are now professionals; youngest, still in college.  Wisely manage time: family, work, apostolate.

CBCP’s pastoral letter on killings and related crimes (30 January 2017) mentioned 3 interlocking causes: poverty, family, corruption.

Choi and Mimi encouraged priests to support the Marriage Encounter Weekend Seminar (MEWS), Sons and Daughters Encounter (SADE) and later on Family Encounter (FE) to strengthen love and unity in the family.

MEWS enriches family relationship and strengthens family through the Eucharist and Penance experienced during the Encounter with the Lord.
