No. 902         Diocese of Marbel, Philippines                         21 November 2016

Bishop Dinualdo visited the Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, General Santos City, 18 November 2016.

Mass of the Holy Spirit opened Bishop’s visit.

Theme “Holy Spirit: Strengthen our Commitment as Evangelizers of the Gospel in Families.”

Bishop’s homily:

Hope for the future through the Holy Spirit – tribulations on earth and in the heaven, notwithstanding, in the Day of the Lord (Joel 3: 1-5).

Holy Spirit – source of unity.  St. Paul exhorts Christians to practice humility, meekness, patience and love to strengthen unity (Eph. 4: 1-6).

The Holy Spirit is given for the forgiveness of sins.  This is part of the disciples’ mission (Jh. 20: 19-23).

Let us trust the Holy Spirit to strengthen our commitment as evangelizers to the families.

Conference at the Br. James McKnight, FMS auditorium after mass.

Main topic is the Diocese of Marbel’s Strategic Plan: A Comprehensive, Relevant and Systematic Program (CRSP) on Marriage Preparation and PastoralAccompaniment of the Newly Weds and Christian Families from Womb to Tomb and Beyond”.  A response to Pope Francis’ 2016 Exhortation “Amoris Laetitia’”, (19 March 2016).

Study, prayer and act are the strategies of pastoral accompaniment from womb (safe conception and birthing) to tomb (happy death) and beyond (union with God).  Goal/vision: Christified individuals and families: effective evangelizers.

Bishop also briefly explained the “Ugnayan” (Cooperation) between the PNP Region 12 and the Diocese of Marbel regarding the moral and spiritual interventions for illegal drug users and pushers.  Entitled “Pastoral Accompaniment of Illegal Drug Users and Pushers (PAID-UP): its envisioned outcomes are: (1) Christified persons: effective evangelizers; (2) responsible, responsive, disciplined and productive citizens; (3) liberation from illegal drugs trafficking.

A third topic was the 2017 CBCP’s theme “Parish as Communion of Communities.” Sub theme: “Forming BECs as Agents of Communion, Participation and Mission.”
