Church of the Poor

1.2 On-going activities on the Eucharist

  • Pre-fiesta retreats and recollections
  • Devotions to Mary and Jesus in the Eucharist
  • Prayer meetings
  • Special parish celebrations of the Solemnity of Corpus Chirsti
  • Meaningful Eucharistic celebration with renewal of Marriage vows
  • Well-planned liturgical celebrations
  • Trainings of liturgical ministries
  • Lectures on the liturgy, Sacraments and Sacramentals in the diocesan, vicariate, parish and GKK levels
  • Creative liturgy for the youth

1.3 On-going activities on the Family

  • Distribution of bibles to families
  • Parish Family Festival
  • Pasko ng Pamilya
  • Renewal of Marriage Vows
  • Conduction of MEWS, SADE, Self-Encounter, Family Encounter
  • Formation program for the youth and children
  • Provision of counseling services
  • Parish Renewal Expereince (PREX)
  • Reaching-out to dysfunctional families

1.4 What can you say about the celebration of the Holy Mass in your parish/GKK?

  • Masses are well attended during fiesta celebrations
  • Only few who have truly understood the meaning and value of the Eucharist in their daily life.

1.5 How does the family concretize the value and meaning of the Eucharist in their day to day life?

  • There are those who have witnessed the message of the Gospel.
  • Only few who have truly understood the meaning and value of the Eucharist in their daily life.

1.6 Concern/Issue on the Eucharist

  • How to deepen people’s appreciation of the Eucharist as the highest form of worship?

1.7 What are the issues and concerns affecting the family?

  • Negative effects of new technologies
  • Broken homes, dysfunctional families, live-in
  • Abandoned children
  • Vices, Drugs, gambling, prostitution
  • Use of Artificial Birth Control, Abortion

1.8 Possible plans for the celebration of the Year of the Family and the Eucharist

  • Intensify the implementation of the existing initiatives on the areas of the Family and the Eucharist.
  • Come up with monthly sub-themes as basis/guide for the yearlong celebration of the Family and the Eucharist. The main theme is “The Filipino Family, Missionary Disciples of the Eucharist.” The theme signifies that the Eucharist builds the family.

 B. Workshop – Planning (Small-group Sharing)

The 24 participants were grouped into three:

  • Action-Social Action (Abraham Contayoso, facilitator)
