2. FIVE AWARDED “PRO ECCLESIA ET PONTIFICE” CROSS

Pope Francis awarded on 2 May 2015 the highest award for lay people – the “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross” for distinguished and outstanding service and zeal to the Church and the Pope to five persons: Bro. Wilfredo Engane Lubrico, FMS and Dr. Andres Magallanes, both of Notre Dame of Marbel University; Mrs. Ruby Teresita Javelosa Peralta, past diocesan president, Catholic Women’s League and present president, Association of Lay Vocations’ Promoters; Mrs. Alice Baldostamon Valera and Mrs. Trinidad Jalapan Remollo, past and present administrators and formators, respectively, Diocesan Center for Christian Formation.

The award was established by Pope Leo XIII in 1888 on the occasion of his golden jubilee of priestly ordination.

These crosses were conferred on 18 July 2015, during the Mass at St. Marcellin Champagnat (SMC) Hall, NDMU.

Presider and homilist: Bishop Dinualdo.  Fr. Romeo Buenaobra, V.G., read the certificate in Latin, Fr. Ernesto Bendita, Chancellor read the English translation.  Other celebrants: Fr. Ronald Plomillo, Rector and Fr. Jefil Callego, Pre-College Director, both of OLPH Seminary; Fr. Rolando Japitana, PP, Tupi, Fr. ReynaldoMission, PP, Polomolok; Fr. Romeo Subaldo, PP, Norala; Fr. Joemer Candido, Diocesan Finance Officer; and Fr. Jess Pasquin, Cotabato Archdiocese.
