The Summit took place on 19 May 2015, Polomolok Municipal Gym, South Cotabato.

Theme: “Do Justice, Love Kindness.”


  1. To present data incidence and cause of poverty in Region XII.
  2. To draw inspiration from the success of individuals and institutions.
  3. To have solidarity with the poor through the Eucharist and sharing of meals.
  4. To explore opportunities provided for by the different institutions: TESDA, DSWD, DA, NEDA, DOLE, SSS, Pag-ibig and Philhealth.

Input 1. “Poverty Incidence”, Ms. Herlita G. Caraan, Philippine Statistic Authority.  Two municipalities in South Cotabato with high poverty rate: Lake Sebu (63.47%) and T’boli (60.21%) as of 2012.  Decrease in poverty rate in General Santos City.

Input 2.  “Philhealth Services”, Ms. Hanna Anep.  Hospital services, free medical check-ups and blood pressure check-ups in barangay health centers.

Input 3.  “Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) services, Mrs. Crisanta Morales.  Projects involving skilled workers.  Materials are provided, like sewing machine.

Testimony 1.  Rudy Ramirez, beneficiary of Marcellin Foundation.  From street child to 3rd year college student.

Testimony 2.  Mrs. Vicenta Jalapan Faltreschi.  Graduated from College, Notre Dame of Marbel College as working student (then).  Worked and married in Edmonton, Canada.  Extended financial help to family in Koronadal City.  Her strong faith in God helped her surmount many trials in life.

Testimony 3.  Mr. Roy Berin.   He worked his way through college, the NDMU.  Through hard work and strong faith in God he is now better off.

Inspiring message from Fr. Gillarme “Joy” Pelino.  Faith in God will help us meet the current socio-political and economic challenges.

Mass.  Presider and homilist – Bishop Dinualdo.  We must repent and have faith in God and in Jesus Christ who was sent by the Father (Acts 20: 17-27).  Knowing, loving and obeying (faith) God will lead us to eternal life (Jh. 17: 1-7).  Faith, therefore means: “doing justice and loving kindness” (theme), especially the poor, the needy (cf. Mt. 25: 35-40).
