Forty-three (43) diocesan priests of Marbel made their annual retreat on July 20-24, 2009 at Holy Cross Retreat House, Calumpang, General Santos City.
Fr. Dominador “Domie” Guzman, SSP, was the facilitator.
A model for diocesan priests is St. John Mary Vianney who died in 1859. Pope Benedict XVI declared June 2009-2010 the Year for Priests to commemorate St. John Vianney’s 150th death anniversary.
Fr. Domie mentioned two aspects of the Saint’s life: spiritual life and pastoral life.
Summary of Fr. Domie’s talks. Priesthood is a confession of love, faith, hope and praise. Priests are servants, evangelizers in dialogue with culture. Priesthood is a call to excellence. To achieve excellence priests must be men of prayer – specially of liturgical prayers which come from the Word of God. (culled from reports of Fr. Alan Catigday and Deacon Joseph Morallon).
