November 23, 2008, last Sunday of Ecclesiastical Year is Solemnity of Christ the King. The Cathedral parish celebrated it with procession of the Blessed Sacrament through some streets of Koronadal City, mass presided by the Bishop and snacks afterwards for all. Usual Sunday mass schedule was followed.
Précis of Bishop’s homily based on the three readings. Christ is the Good Shepherd who feeds his flock, heals the wounded, looks for the lost Sheep (1st reading). In Adam all die; in Christ all will come to life again on the last day when Christ will destroy every sovereignty, power and death (2nd reading). On that day, Christ will judge everyone based on one’s response to the needs of the poor (Gospel). He exhorted everyone to change, to develop social conscience in order to address the needs of the poor and transform unjust social structures, e.g. electoral system, culture of corruption and legislative initiatives which promote vested interest, like charter change now.
