The 19th DKA took place in St. Paul of the Cross Novitiate, General Santos City, on 25 October 2008.
Theme “Pulong sa Dios: Sukaranan sa Pag-amoma sa Kalibutan, Atong Pinuy-anan” (Word of God, Basis of Care for the Earth, Our Home).
Bishop’s homily. He stressed theme is very relevant to the Synod of Bishops on the Word of God… God created the universe (Gen. 1:1) through Christ and for Christ (Col. 1:16). Hence, every creature is good (Gen. Chapter 1, passim). Land belongs to God (Lev. 25:23). Man is only God’s steward, caretaker (Gen. 2: 15-16). Humans were instructed by God to allow land to rest every 50th year inorder that land may recover its fertility (Lev. 25: 8-19). Sustainable economy is God’s will: do not eat the mother bird, only the chicks or eggs (Dt. 22:6-7). Bishop ended his homily by quoting from Ps. 104, the glories of creation “May Yahweh find joy in what He creates…(v. 31). May sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked exist no more!”
